Contact us: The Friends of the Anoka Nature Preserve..

Who are the Friends ?

• Basically, average community citizens who value and support the integrity and permanent protection of the ANP, a City of Anoka park/greenspace.

• Supporters who are working to see that the ANP is protected forever– keeping it a primitive, natural park, similar to what travelers might have encountered as they moved across Minnesota in the 1800’s, and ‘first nation’ Dakota and then Ojibwe traveling up and down the rivers of Minnesota (‘anishinabe makanah‘: the water highway)

• Anoka city residents and all those who want a wide variety of parks in the City– not just athletic fields but also walking/biking paths and natural, wild greenspace–so that everyone can enjoy a quiet walk in the woods for years to come.

How do I join?

Contact us via e-mail and someone will be in touch. Member meetings are held periodically at various public locations. You may watch this website for additional information and public meeting dates and times.

The Friends of the Anoka Nature Preserve organization is led by a Steering Committee of volunteers who meet regularly to coordinate activities and pass along information about the ANP.   We seek to support the appropriate management by the City, and work together with the Parks Department to protect and preserve the area..

I thought, as many outdoor adventures students thought, that it was called the “Oaks of Anna!!” (just kiddin’)
